School Meals

At Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, we are pleased to be able to offer healthy daily menus.  We are one of the few schools in the area to offer an innovative and unique cook to order choice system.

Our meal service is run by Twelve15.  The lunchtime service is provided by a working kitchen and all food is cooked on the premises.  Twelve15 continually strive to improve the diets of our children. It is closely monitored by the Governing Body who instigate changes as required and on a continual basis. Mechanically recovered meat and genetically modified ingredients are not used.   For further information on school meals, please visit https://itstwelve15.co.uk/.

All children of infant age (Reception, Year 1 and 2) are eligible for a daily free school meal.  We expect all infant children to take up this opportunity, as we feel it is a good way for children to try new things together and ease the peer pressure and burden for parents who make the packed lunches!

There is always a healthy sandwich bag option alongside the hot meal choices and, as we have found with the free fruit and vegetables scheme for infants, children will try new things which they previously have rejected.  In addition, parents can be guaranteed that their child will be having a healthy meal.

Lunchtime is supervised, and children are encouraged to eat all their main course before tucking into a delicious pudding, or cheese and biscuits.

In Upper School (Year 3 to 6), the cost of a school meal is £2.70.

All meals must be ordered on ParentMail.  We ask parents to order two weeks in advance to assist our catering team with ordering.  If your child is in Year 3 to 6, you must pay for the meal when the selection is made.  If they are subsequently off, their meal account will be credited.

Allergy Menus

If your child has a special dietary requirement, has a food allergy, or does not eat a particular food for religious or ethical reasons, please contact the School Office immediately.  It is important that you let us know of any allergies even if your child has a packed lunch every day, as your child's class may have a tasting session as part of the curriculum.  You will be asked to complete a 'Special Diet Request Form' (see attached) and provide medical evidence, if appropriate.  The catering team will assess your application and determine the appropriate menu for your child.

Our catering team, Twelve15, cater for 14 recognised food allergens: celery, crustaceans, dairy, egg, fish, gluten, lupin, molluscs, mustard, nut, peanut, sesame, soya, sulphites.  They also support vegetarian, vegan, pork and beef-free diets.  For more information about the allergens contained in our menus, including a list of the 14 key allergens and the dishes they appear in, please visit Twelve15's website, https://twelve15.mysaffronportal.com/

To guard against food allergies, we ask that children do not share food in school.

How to Order a Meal Online

  • Login to ParentMail PMX (https://pmx.parentmail.co.uk/#core/login)
  • Go to the 'Accounts' tab in the column on the left
  • Click on the option you can see, i.e., 'Main Menu', 'Dairy Free Menu' (only one menu will be visible)
  • A calendar (saying week beginning .... will appear)
  • Click on the week you wish to order a meal and then select your child's meal choices for each day
  • Once all choices are made, click the 'Pay Now' button (if your child is in Lower School, or has Free School Meals, this step still needs to be completed, but you will not be charged)
  • You will be asked to 'Review Your Selections'
  • If correct, click the 'Confirm' button
  • You will be taken to the basket summary, where you can click 'Complete'
  • Once you have ordered a meal, the date/box will turn green.  If you click on it, you can see the choice(s) you made for the whole of that week

If your child is in Upper School and you forget to order a meal for them, please ring the School Office before 9 am.  Do not rely on your child to tell someone.  If they do not have a packed lunch with them, and you are unable to bring one in, you will receive a notification advising you that the cost of a meal has been charged to your account. You will then need to log in to ParentMail to make the payment.

If your child is in Upper School and goes home unexpectedly before 9.45 am, the School Office will cancel their meal with the kitchen and credit the money to your meal account.  If they go home after 9.45 am, you will not be refunded, as the meal would have been partially prepared and the school will be charged for it.

Packed Lunch - Nut Free School
If your child is in Upper School and does not want a school meal, you can provide them with a packed lunch.  We are a nut free school, and we have a number of children in school with serious nut allergies.  Severe allergic reactions result in anaphylaxis and can be fatal.  A person with an allergy does not have to eat nuts to have a severe reaction; this can be caused by surface contact and airborne particles.  With this in mind, we politely ask that no products containing nuts are eaten anywhere on the school site and packed lunches are nut free, e.g. no peanut butter sandwiches, chocolate spreads, some cereal bars, cakes and biscuits that contain nuts.  This list is not exhaustive, so please check the packaging of products closely before including them in your child's lunch box.

Parents are also asked not to include sweets or fizzy drinks/squash in their child's packed lunch.

If your child is in Upper School, we ask that your child brings in a snack of dried or fresh fruit, or raw vegetables, for their morning break.
