Curriculum

Where can I find?

At Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, our curriculum is shaped by our Christian vision and our commitment to inclusion, equity and high expectations for every child. It is broad, balanced and carefully sequenced from EYFS to Year 6, with subjects planned using the Cornerstones Curriculum as a basis for progression in key areas. This ensures that pupils build knowledge, skills and vocabulary securely over time. Learning is designed to build on what pupils already know, with regular opportunities to revisit and apply understanding so that knowledge becomes confident and secure.

Strong subject leadership, clear progression maps and the consistent use of knowledge organisers support effective implementation. Teachers adapt learning thoughtfully so that pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those with EAL can access the same ambitious curriculum, with scaffolding and support matched to need.

The impact of our curriculum is seen in pupils’ engagement, their growing independence and their ability to talk confidently about their learning across subjects. Enrichment opportunities — including Forest School, outdoor learning, educational visits and involvement in the local community — strengthen pupils’ cultural capital and personal development. Leaders and governors monitor the curriculum through learning walks, book looks, pupil voice and subject leader reviews, using this information to refine practice and ensure continual improvement.

What is the Cornerstones Curriculum?

The Cornerstones Curriculum is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the Primary National Curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. Our curriculum is delivered through Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) which provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning.

We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides lots of learning challenges throughout the academic year that requires children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.

How it Works?

Children will progress through four stage of learning in each ILP – Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express. To find out more about these stages on the Cornerstones website please click here.
